Intros: Charles (Chip)

Hi, my name is Charles (though most people call me Chip), and I just finished my second year at the University of Michigan. I'm majoring in Mechanical Engineering, and minoring in Math and Physics. I'm from Monroe, MI, which is not too far from Ann Arbor, and close to Toledo, OH.

I've spent two years as a member of the Remote Sensing Group, a research group in the Space Physics Research Lab at U of M. The group works heavily with NASA centers like Goddard and JPL, working on equipment for remote sensing satellites. With the group I've worked on two NASA sponsored projects, the Correlated Noise Calibration System (CNCS) and the Agile Digital Detector for RFI Detection and Mitigation (ADD). This past year, I was the lead on a project studying the RFI patterns of the wireless internet signals WiFi and WiMAX and their detectability with the ADD system.

I've been a life long fan of Michigan Football, and I'm a big sports fan in general. I'm a brother in the Delta Chi Fraternity, and am active in Tau Beta Pi, Pi Tau Sigma and ASME. When I do get free time, I enjoy video games and movies. I'm looking forward to beginning work, and to a summer in California.

Good to have you on the SSO team, Chip (I've been referring to you as Charles, though I do get a kick out of your handle... cdwiii ... it's like an extra fun next generation Nintendo console disc).

Anyway, warning to you all:
northern California is *not* as deliciously warm as one might assume... beaches are chilly, as are evenings... BRING HOODIES! Represent your school and keep your body heat at the same time! I'll resend the New! Improved! info document out next week with some additional helpful hints like this...

It's a pretty safe bet it's warmer than Michigan, though :)

Boston, too.
